Bebop Hoedown – Band biography
Adam Z Markham – vocals, guitar, banjo, blues harp
A gifted singer/songwriter, and hometown favorite (from Stewartsville, VA), Adam has had a successful solo career in the Roanoke Valley for many years. He is best known for his work in the popular duo "Cows In Trouble". Adam plays Taylor, Guild and Takamine guitars.
Sonny Campbell – vocals, bass
Well-known as one of the leaders and driving forces in the now-defunct Cosmic Americana Rock band "Radar Rose", Sonny enjoys writing and performing his own compositions, and has long been an avid supporter of the Roanoke music scene. He occasionally performs locally with his acoustic trio “Woody”. Sonny usually plays his 1967 Peavey Foundation bass, though you can sometimes catch him playing his wonderful old Guild flattop acoustic bass
Jeff Maiden - vocals, percussion
Essential to the driving force of the band, Jeff is well known for playing in the band "Symphony Creek". Jeff currently adds his "tribal-funk" rhythms to the regional band "The Virginia Folk Jazz Trio" and accompanies other local bands like "The Seed" and "High Street". Jeff's "kit" is all hand-drums, composed of a cajone, conga, bongo, dumbek, blocks, kabasa, and assorted cymbals.
Wes Chappell - vocals, mandolin, fiddle, flute, pennywhistle, harmonica, guitar, sax, theremin, and whatever else he can fit on the stage
Wes is a founding member of the hammer dulcimer group "No Strings Attached" Formed in 1979, they have played music across the USA , the UK, and parts of Europe. He also plays with the local celtic group "Second Wynde" and has been teaching various instruments at Fret Mill Music for a long time. His instruments include Godin and Gibson mandolins, an old European fiddle, a Yamaha electric fiddle, a Taylor guitar, and assorted orphaned instruments that find their way to him.
